In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF)

Description

In Vitro fecundation (IVF) is a technique that achieves fecundation of female gametes (oocytes) outside the woman’s body. So that this takes place, the woman’s oocytes are obtained and, in the laboratory, put into contact with the man’s spermatazoids. The insemination of oocytes can be carried out by means of the conventional IVF technique or by Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI). Once the oocytes have been fecundated, a number of the embryos obtained are then transferred to the woman’s uterus, (a maximum of 3), where they will naturally continue to develop. The remaining viable embryos will be frozen to be destinated to the purposes forseen by law.
