Procedure

Embryo Thawing and Transfer

Description

It is indicated when there are cryopreserved embryos remaining following an in vitro fecundation cycle. Though this procedure may be performed at the same time of the female patient’s natural cycle, in most cases it is necessary to prepare the uterus with hormone replacement therapy, which will be monitored by ultrasonography and blood analysis. Once the day for procedures to commence has been established, the necessary amount of embryos are defrosted according to their availability, and if possible, are then transferred to the woman’s uterus where they shall remain in order to develop naturally.
